Online Scheduling for Virtual School Students Saves Real Time

Middle school and high school students at the Florida Virtual School attend online classes but interact frequently by telephone with their teachers. Calls are scheduled to welcome students and to conduct oral exams, tutoring sessions and monthly conversations with the families.

"Each teacher works with as many as 200 students. Most of our students preferred to set appointments by email so there was a lot of back and forth that was very time consuming. When students need to schedule an appointment, they use a link on the school’s Web site to reach the online calendar. Melissa estimates that online scheduling saves two-three hours a week of her time. Even better, the online calendar syncs with her Lotus Notes calendar so all of her appointments are in one place.
