Administrator Desktop: This is where the administrator sets up and edits company information such as the company's address and business hours.

Cable Modem: Internet access via television cable service - typically one of the fastest connections.

Capacity based scheduling: Scheduling for classes where a limit is set for how many can signup for the class - we currently do not provide this feature.

Client: The web page where your clients go to make appointments with your company. The URL will be similar to http://www.flashappointments.com/client/launch.cfm?busId=1.

Daily Report: A report that shows all the clients having appointments for that day. This report page is accessed from a secure login.

Dial-up: Internet access via telephone service - typically one of the slowest connections.

DSL: Internet access via digital lines that are provided by telephone companies to their local subscribers and that carry data at high speeds - typically one of the faster connections.

HIPAA: Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.

HTML: A markup language used to structure text and multimedia documents and to set up hypertext links between documents, used extensively on the World Wide Web.

Macromedia Flash®: Rich dynamic content applications - what is used in the Client, Receptionist and Administrator Desktop pages.

Page Refresh: With HTML pages need to be refresh when providing new or updated content to a page - dissimilar to this is Flash with does not need to be refresh in order to provide new or updated content.

Outlook®: Microsoft software product. PIM or personal information manager which includes a calendar.

Palm®: PalmOne software product. PIM or personal information manager which includes a calendar.

Personnel: A employee/staff or owner of the company which provides a service to a customer.

Receptionist Desktop: This is the location for the staff or even a receptionist (if there is one) to make appointments for their customers as the call them in or done for example while the customer is there. The receptionist is more powerful than making them with the Client.

Scheduler: Also know as the Client. See Client.

Service: For our scheduler this can mean a service provided by a staff member such as a 60 minute massage or it can mean a resource such as a tennis court.

Staff: A employee/personnel or owner of the company which provides a service to a customer.

URL: The Uniform Resource Locator is an address that links to a web page or web server that is usually entered into the top of a browser.

Web site: A set of interconnected web pages, usually including a homepage, located on a server - this is normally referring the web site of the owner of the business using FlashAppointment's scheduler.
